My good friend Autumn Grace from Shades of Art recently nominated me for another round of the Sunshine Blogger Award! This is simply a challenge where bloggers can ask other bloggers interesting questions and read their answers. If you'd like specific rules, unique questions, or would like to see my first Sunshine Blogger Award, check out this post! Now, without further ado, here are the questions Autumn asked me, along with my answers. :)
What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite is Poirot, a British mystery drama based on the well-known series by Agatha Christie. It follows the famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot (played by David Suchet!), as he solves a variety of complex crimes using his "little grey cells." With a delightful cast of characters, intriguing plots, and excellent mysteries, Poirot is not one to miss. I think I've watched every episode at least twice!
Here is the opening sequence, for you to get an idea of the show.
A close second of mine is Band of Brothers, which is a World War II TV show based on true events and characters. I watched the series last summer and it was the best World War II show I've ever watched. It contains deep themes, an intense plot, and characters you would follow to the very end. Also, if you're not usually a crier (I ain't. . .), I assure you, Band of Brothers will still get you.
(If you want to learn more about this show, check out this post! It's been said that you can determine the overall atmosphere and quality of a movie by the first ten minutes. Well, I think that for this show, you can get a feel by the first ten seconds.)
My third favorite is The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984). I'm sure you've heard of Sherlock Holmes, so I won't go into detail, but I love the old feel of this show, and I love the music. It's so dramatic.
If you had to choose to live in one part of the world for the rest of your life, where would it be?
I haven't traveled to many places in the world, so this question is really tough. I would love visiting different countries and regions all over. But if I had to choose to live in one part of the world, I would choose to live where I am right now (Midwest USA), because that's home to me. I'm in love with the seasons, the (overall) very friendly people, and the lush forests and lakes.

Would you rather visit the Mariana Trench, or the moon?
I would say the moon. The Mariana Trench is a deep dark abyss, and going there would be terrifying. I prefer the moon from the view of the earth—bright, mysterious—but it would still be pretty cool to see the earth from the moon.

If you had to choose between books and writing for the rest of your life, which would it be?
(Why all these "rest of your life" questions, Autumn? They are so hard.ðŸ˜)
This question is really thought-provoking, though. I think I would choose books. I really love writing, I really do. Â But to read good books is to listen across time and space, to access knowledge far beyond my own, to endlessly experience countless lives, full of depth and beauty and intricacies I could never have invented myself. I would still create stories no matter what. I just wouldn't be able to write them down.

What is your favorite book of the Bible?
I think it's a tie between Proverbs and Matthew. I love how Proverbs is about practical wisdom, discipline, integrity, and living with intention. Every time I read it, I feel myself growing so much as a person. I love Matthew because it's full of parables that Jesus taught, and I love how it explores the deeper spiritual meaning behind actions, not just the rules.

What was/is your favorite topic in school?
My favorites to learn about are languages, history, and art. It's so hard to choose a favorite topic because I love so many things.

If you could go back to one famous time in history (The Revolutionary War, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Opening Night, etc.) what would it be?
Ooh, I love this question, but it's also so hard to answer. Right now, I would really pick Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Opening Night. I know there are so many amazing famous times in history to choose from, but with all my orchestra performances going on right now, I'm really getting into music, and I think hearing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony would be epic.

What is your favorite animal?
I love dolphins! They are so intelligent, joyful, and empathetic. Plus, just look at the way they leap out of the water. It's incredible.

Are you an early bird of a night owl?
I'm naturally a night owl, and I'm really productive around 9:00 p.m. and after, but (unfortunately?) I'm not allowed to stay up super late. I love the early mornings, too, I just am more quiet and contemplative in the mornings, and more energetic at night.

What's your dream room?
I love this question! I'd want a four-poster bed with a curtain around it, a nice, large wooden desk, a bookshelf full of my favorite books, a fancy dresser, and a couple really comfortable chairs. I'd want a big window next to my desk. It would be decorated either in a dark academia or cottage core style—I know those are complete opposites, but it's hard for me to choose. There would be beautiful paintings and quotes on the wall, and, if it's large enough, I'd also have a small piano.
Rather similar to question #7, what is one past famous person that you would like to meet?
My answer to this question changes a lot, and this time, I would say J. R. R. Tolkien. I've been reading his works again these past weeks, and I've been reading a lot of his unfinished stories (like The Fall of Gondolin). I'd love to ask him about his books and maybe, if I could, I'd try to encourage him to finish those unfinished works, because even the earliest drafts hold so much mystery and beauty within.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks again, Autumn, for tagging me on these delightful questions! It was a lot of fun writing this. And thank you all for reading. <3
